Hi, I’m 15 and I love singing but I’m not that good at it. Also I really only sing when my friends are there cause they always sing with me and I’m afraid if I get a vocal coach I’ll get nervous and won’t be able to do well. What should i do? And can I get better?
It’s my firm belief that anyone that wants to get better at singing can. Also, it’s the job of your vocal coach to make you feel comfortable and help encourage you along your vocal journey.
Here’s what you want to do. Audition voice teachers. Once you find one that you feel comfortable around, keep ‘em. You’ll also find that the more you allow yourself to sing in front of people, the better you’re going to get. So just the process of auditioning voice teachers should help you chip away a little bit at your fear of singing in front of people (if only a little).
Remember, progress comes in steps. It may not feel comfortable at first, but the more you do it, the easier it gets. That’s how anyone develops confidence in anything they do if you think about it. Just doing it enough that they know what to expect.
Alright, well I hope this helps, and best of luck in finding a vocal instructor!
